Students oppose stricter security in stadium

“ It’s an outrage,” commented senior Paul Cromwick. “ Roemer knows so little about student psychology and co llege p re s ­ su res .” • “ This is something that will anger people,” Cromwick warned. Senior Michael Duffy cited an example of alcohol-related abuse at the Georgia Tech game. “ The last game, someone with sloe gin started throwing the liquor around in the stands. He drenched several girls and ruined their clothes.” Duffy doesn’t agree with Roem er’s solution however. “ It seems to me that the existing attitudes at the stadium were working w ell,” said Duffy. “ I don’t understand why it suddenly has to be different for the last home gam e.” Roemer explained the reasons for enacting the policy by noting that “ progressively, we have sat and watched people pass out at the football gam es.” Roemer said that four female students passed out and had to be carried from the stands at the Navy gam e, while the same thing" happened to three male students at the Georgia Tech game.
